Nature is disappearing, what will you do?

Nature is disappearing rapidly we should do something!

Our nature is disappearing in a speed we can't keep up with. I went on the web to look into this more closely and found out that less than 40% of our planet is nature. Where does the rest go ?

I started searching on the internet to find the source of it, and found out that there are researchers that put time in finding the source and bringing it to light. I copied a quote from the paper of Hillary Mayell for National Geographic News October 25, 2002. Source

"Yes, humans have a huge influence on the Earth's ecosystems," said Eric Sanderson, a landscape ecologist with the Wildlife Conservation Society and one of the co-authors of the study."But instead of being discouraged or depressed," he added, "we want people to understand they can actually make choices; that it's possible to live with wildlife in ways that allow us to make a living and at the same time coexist with wildlife."The figures are not a surprise to scientists, said Sanderson."Wildlife biologists and ecologists are really pretty discouraged about the inability to get the message out," he said. "In the United States, people have the idea that there are these really big wild spaces still out there. It's not true. One study showed that 20 percent of the continental U.S. land mass is within 500 meters of a paved road"—an area equal to about five and a half football fields."

I tried to find more facts about the forest and the nature and found the wiki page that tells all about this. It was last update on 26 may of 2014 so the source is up to date. A part of the first paragraph intrigued my interest straight away, and told me my feeling was right. (Source wikipedia)

"Tree forests cover approximately 9.4% percent of the Earth's surface (or 30 percent of total land area), though they once covered much more (about 50 procent of total land area). They function as habitats for organisms, hydrologic flow modulators, and soil conservers, constituting one of the most important aspects of the biosphere."

We need to co-operate with nature otherwise in 20 years or more there will be nothing left. I chose the topic about nature because I care about it. Why do I care because nature makes the world go round. We live from it and it lives through us. If we destroy the last bit of nature we have we will destroy the earth. I believe that we can change it by just simply changing how we life and how we handle the nature.

Instead of building concrete skyscrapers use materials that can be re used or that will dissolve when you break it down. An example is the life cycle tower in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, which allows buildings up to 30 floors made of wood.

There are so many options for rebuilding nature and to restore what was destroyed I say we start today!
