Before the Flood is the three-year documentary produced by not only Leonardo DiCaprio, but also Martin Scorsese and Fisher Stevens. Co-creator and director, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Fisher Stevens embarked on an incredible journey to uncover the ugly truth about our planet's climate. Discovering new found evidence in every corner, the two men exposed the question: Will mankind posses the capability of undoing their wrongs, or will all humanity perish due to the sixth mass extinction on this planet?
This film illustrates the interconnectedness of our world and encourages audiences, everywhere, to understand where the breaking point of human consumption lies.
As a narrator, DiCaprio comments on the various regions of the globe and the heavy impact of man-made global warming as well as many archive footages. For example, he refers to the 15th century triptych titled The Garden of Earthly Delights, which depicts the earth being on its final panel.
DiCaprio’s dialogue focuses extensively on climate change denial and those corporate lobbyists and politicians in the United States who follow the same pattern(s).
Before the Flood is not enough, it's a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world today, but also provides preventative techniques.
"We need everyone to demand bold action from their political leaders and to elect who has their best interests at heart, not the interests of corporations to perpetuate a cycle of greed and destruction," says DiCaprio. "This documentary shows how interrelated the fate of all humanity is - but also the power we all possess as individuals to build a better future for our planet."
