Such a ‘supreme’ sacrifice for Human’s beauty.
- The Beauty companies that still do Animal testing for developing their products.
Can we judge which life is more important or more precious? Apparently, as you know, We can’t. Issues of the dignity of lives has been on the rise constantly. Especially for cosmetics, It goes more serious when testing is with our friends, household animals, like rabbits, dogs, cats and so on. Rats, rabbits, dogs, cats and mice are laid on the testing bench really in usual. And the number of dying animals for testing is in a year.
All they can do is just sit and wait in fears of the next painful procedure that will be performed on them. The stress, sterility and boredom causes some animals to develop neurotic behaviors such incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth and even pulling out their own hair and biting their own skin. After enduring lives of pain, loneliness and terror sweep them and almost all of them are killed by euthanasia. It’s literally so cruel to kill the lives. And also so cruel in point of it’s just for moisturing our skin and decorating our face something like those unnecessaly things. Who can justify the death of those lives after being used just for testing? Who can weigh importance of lives? Nobody.
Concerning these issues, of course some publics have protested it. And following this, some kind of NGO and governments have put efforts for controlling companies by opening the list of companies doing animal testing and enacting laws and so on. The good example is European Union. EU established a law that restricts beauty companies doing animal testing in 2012. It means that products tested on animal are prohibited from being sold in EU countries without distinction of imports and exports. Fortunately, pretty a lot of companies have stopped their animal testing and developed reasonable alternatives so far.
But still, There are some companies that don’t stop testing on animal with the reason named economic feasibility. By the research of PETA(People for Ethical Treatment for Animals) resulted until March 5 in this year, about 200 companies still were doing animal testing even though diverse alternative solutions were developed. It includes a lot of brands known to us already and we’ve consumed.
In this point, What’s the roles of Media which can’t help sending out advertisement of these kind of companies? They’ve not only got advertisements but also should release news about violence of animal’s lives. This is a kind of contradiction and it goes to be in dilemma.
